During Lock down period JES Pune chapter has been organising Webinars for the benefit of its members and others . In this series of knowledge sharing we had two webinars in the month of May 20 by experts in their field. On the occasion of Mothers’ day, Sunday, 10th May, Shri Vaibhav Bakliwal (B.Tech. IIT, Bombay), director of Bakliwal Tutorials, a premier institute for IIT entrance in Pune, took a session on" EFFECTIVE PARENTING". To begin with he talked about the power of beliefs and then emphasized on the belief that good thinking ability can be developed with ‘deliberate practice’ . The belief of inherent intelligence is an overrated idea and in fact it is quality of practice which leads to the better results. Then he suggested the following points for mastering any skill: 1) Think of the skill that you are extremely motivated to succeed at 2) Believe that with right kind of practice you can improve 3) Practice with a plan and be observant as to what is working, what isn’t 4) Understand when to be in the performance zone and when in learning zone 5) In learning zone, focus on your weak areas 6) Take expert help 7) Be inventive, as to what will bring improvement 8) Use a matrix to keep a track of your progress 9) Repeat with tweaking your plan if necessary Deliberate Practice is easier said than done. So, in the next part of the presentation, he drew form ideas in spirituality to suggest how students can delay temporary gratifications and do what is right for their growth and development.
